PRODUCT DETAILS

The Pro Prep Block is a chef's dream, offering a four-inch thick Northern hard rock maple butcher block top, lower storage shelf, two stainless steel towel holders, and optional locking caster wheels—all in one beautiful package. The butcher block surface stands at 36 inches, an ideal height for food preparation. The decorative under-shelf is made of individual maple slats and is a perfect place to store and display larger kitchen items. The stainless steel towel bars are great for hanging dishrags and kitchen towels; they also double as handles to use when moving the Pro Prep Block. You can add a sliding maple utensil drawer, perfect for stowing your favorite kitchen tools, and locking caster wheels, which let you move the Pro Prep Block easily and keep it securely in place when positioned.

The Pro Prep Block features a four-inch thick maple butcher block top with end-grain construction. Compared to other butcher block surfaces, the end-grain work surface is harder, more durable and much easier easy on knives; during cutting or chopping, the end grain wood fibers absorb the impact of the blade, which keeps knives sharper longer. The malleable and forgiving end grain surface is resistant to nicks and gouges, which prevents bacteria from entering the wood, keeps the board looking new longer and increases its longevity. The work surface is featured with the standard Boos Block Cream Finish with Beeswax, to seal and protect the wood. The Boos block cream penetrates deeply into the grains of the wood, leaving a silky wax barrier to lock moisture in, and allows your board to be used as a cutting surface. This finish can be maintained with John Boos Mystery Oil or Boos Board Cream.

Please note: if you would like caster wheels with your block, please be sure to add them to your order when you make your purchase. This item is made to order. When caster wheels are added to an order at the time of purchase the legs are pre-drilled and cut in production to accept the casters. You will not be able to easily obtain or add caster wheels to your block separately at a later date, so if you think you will want casters with your block, please use the drop down menu above to include them with your order.

John Boos & Co is firmly committed to managing environmental matters as an integral part of their business practice. Some of the steps they take to accomplish their “green” status include manufacturing wood products that emit far less carbon dioxide, sulfur dioxide, methane and other gases than processing non-wood substitutes; using only formaldehyde free and low emission formaldehyde gluing processes in manufacturing our butcher blocks; and having active recycling programs in place with 95% of all raw materials, scrap, and even their sawdust recycled as fuel to heat their kilns. Boos’ sawdust is also recycled as livestock bedding for their local agricultural needs.
