This butcher block countertop comes standard with a natural oil finish that can be quickly wiped clean with a damp cloth. If scars or stains do appear, they can be easily removed by sanding the area. An application of mineral oil brings the area back to like-new condition. The butcher block countertop is the only area in the kitchen with a renewable surface. With proper re-oiling and maintenance, your Appalachian Red Oak butcher block countertop will last for decades! You may also purchase your Appalachian Red Oak butcher block with a Varnique semi-gloss finish. Varnique semi-gloss butcher block counters are virtually maintenance free, easy to clean with mild soap and warm water, and resistant to most household chemicals. The Varnique semi-gloss finish seals and protects the wood, and gives your butcher block counter a fine furniture look; however, Varnique semi-gloss surfaces are not meant to be cut upon directly.
