The Cucina Rustica Butcher Block Kitchen Island combines the warmth of solid natural wood construction, a traditional country design, and a top-of-the-line 4" thick 100% solid Northern hard rock maple end-grain butcher block surface to create a timeless piece that will complement any kitchen décor and stand up to years of daily use. At nearly 3 feet tall, this butcher block table is the ideal height for food preparation tasks. The end-grain work surface is easy on knives; during cutting or chopping, the end grain wood fibers absorb the impact of the blade, which keeps knives sharper longer. The malleable and forgiving end grain surface is resistant to nicks and gouges, which prevents bacteria from entering the wood, keeps the board looking new longer and increases its longevity. The Cucina Rustica Butcher Block Kitchen Island features the Boos Block Cream Finish with Beeswax that penetrates deeply into the grains of the wood, leaving a silky wax barrier to lock moisture in. This finish can be maintained with John Boos Mystery Oil or Boos Board Cream. Ornate maple legs add a touch of elegance, and a dovetailed maple drawer (or two, for the largest size) provides a great place for keeping frequently used items out of sight but within reach.
